He was handed over to his family but Mechek succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Imphal.
Singh informed that the police have arrested a suspect involved in the killing of Mechek but did not disclose the name of the person. “A suspect involved in the murder has been apprehended and we are working to ensure that all others involved in this heinous act are brought to justice and punished accordingly,” Singh posted on his official Facebook account.
Singh further stated that the matter has been resolved with the support and cooperation of the COCOMI and the UNC. The UNC is an apex body of the Nagas of Manipur while COCOMI is an influential organisation based in the valley.
