Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed’s new series, Barzakh, introduces a narrative that combines magical realism with supernatural fantasy against the backdrop of a family reunion.

Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed, known for their acclaimed pairing in the hit Pakistani series Zindagi Gulzar Hai, have come together again for filmmaker Asim Abbasi’s latest project, Barzakh. The series’ trailer introduces a narrative that combines magical realism with supernatural fantasy against the backdrop of a family reunion.

Sharing details about the upcoming series, Fawad Khan said, “It was amazing. I grew to love the people I was working with and it felt like being at home. After having seen Cake, when I was approached for Barzakh, I jumped at the opportunity. Asim’s work sets him apart as a very unique director whose emphasis is on character development in a way that is contemporary. Also, I’ve always wanted to attempt something out of the ordinary and Barzakh is nothing ordinary.”

Fawad Khan also opened up about reuniting with Sanam Saeed. He said, “Working with Sanam after all these years is still a comfort zone. I enjoyed it and I believe in her skills. It always makes my job easy.”

Sanam Saeed also expressed her excitement about Barzakh, highlighting its exploration of themes like family dynamics, love, loss, and the mysteries of the afterlife. She emphasized her interest in roles that challenge conventional storytelling boundaries and praised the series for delving into mystical elements.
