National Conference discusses upcoming J&K Assembly elections
In a statement, the party said, “During this time, core competencies and future courses of action will be discussed and put into perspective.” The party’s Lok Sabha election performance, in which it won two of the three seats, was also analysed.
The present political situation and upcoming Assembly elections were among the issues discussed during a meeting of the National Conference’s working committee on Wednesday, party spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq said.
While Assembly polls in J&K are yet to be announced, Sadiq said, “The Supreme Court has set a deadline of September 30 and we are working around that. We are also putting the Lok Sabha election results into perspective.” On July 1, the National Conference formed a committee, led by senior party member and former finance minister Abdul Rahim Rather, to draft the party’s manifesto for the Assembly elections, while it had already announced “constituency in-charges” in the Valley last year.
