Vicky Kaushal shared how his father Sham Kaushal’s struggles taught him that making it big wouldn’t be easy and revealed the flip side to the industry’s glitz and glamour.

With one stellar performance after another, Vicky Kaushal has carved a niche for himself in the film industry. The actor is currently awaiting the release of his next film, Bad Newz, produced by Dharma Productions. In a recent interaction, Vicky opened up about his upbringing and how being the son of action director Sham Kaushal might not have helped him bag big roles. However, his father’s struggle in the industry taught him the valuable lesson that making it big wouldn’t be easy and that there is a flip side to the glitz and glamour of this industry.

But Vicky was determined to try his luck in the industry as he was interested in the craft. Speaking about his upbringing and how it taught him to be resilient, he said, “When you are born into a family where somebody is working in the film industry, the advantage is that you know the harsh reality of the industry. You know that it’s not all glitter and glamour and it has a flip side too. I was born and bought up in a chawl, I have lived in a 10×10 room and I have seen how my parents got furniture one by one and how we have transitioned from small spaces to big spaces. Like how we have moved from chawl to 1bhk then to 2bhk, so that struggle was never hidden from us and I always knew the flip side of this industry and that it isn’t easy.”
